WHAT
WE DO

We connect patrons from every age, income, and background to information and the promotion of literacy.

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.

Wilson Community Library has had an increase in programming attendance in recent years. We needed to expand in order to continue to meet the needs of our population.

Our second story renovation was funded by a New York State Library Development grant in 2019. This reclamation of space will provide more opportunities for active learning programs. The plan calls for the creation of a makerspace that supports the creation of digital educational artifacts as well as traditional communal crafting activities. This space will also allow for recreational video game play and offer access to the latest technologies to encourage socialization among teens.

The redevelopment of our second story will have more space for traditional library services as well. The development of a presentation space will support  adult education workshops for larger audiences. Furthermore, we will be able to expand our book collection while offering an updated, welcoming atmosphere in which to gather. This modern library will be offer numerous amenities including an ADA compliant elevator and study spaces as well as energy efficient utilities.

The redevelopment of second floor space will allow us to greatly expand our tremendously cramped children's room on the first floor. The expansion will allow for an expanded book collection for early and emergent literacies, up-to-date computer stations, and imaginative play spaces.

Wilson Community Library is committed to supporting the educational and technological needs of the community at large. Obtaining this grant allowed us to better meet and satisfy the growing needs of our patrons.
